Why do you need to know your BMI?

BMI, the body mass index, is widely used to find out if you have a healthy weight in relation to your height. Being healthy is not being underweight or overweight. For example, a BMI of 20-25 is considered healthy for most adults.

What does the result mean?

The table below shows the results formulated by the World Health Organization (WHO) based on BMI indices for both men and women aged 18 years or older. Based on these, your health can be assessed and recommendations for lifestyle improvement can be made.
Underweight » BMI < 18.5
A BMI lower than 18.5 indicates that the body lacks important nutrients and, as with high body weight, health problems can occur.
Healthy » BMI from18.5 to 25
Normal weight, low risk of disease.
Overweight » BMI from 25 to 30
BMI values above 25 indicate a proportional increase in health problems: the heavier the weight, the higher the risk of health problems.
Obese I » BMI from 30 to 40
BMI values above 30 indicate obesity. Determining the type of obesity is of major importance as it is associated with an increased risk of diabetes, hypertension, liver disease, etc., which affects the quality of life and considerably decreases life expectancy.
Obese II » BMI > 40
BMI values above 30 indicate obesity. Determining the type of obesity is of major importance as it is associated with an increased risk of diabetes, hypertension, liver disease, etc., which affects the quality of life and considerably decreases life expectancy.
